Training for LGAs at the National and Regional level18/10/2011 |
|
Local government associations are established in order to function – among other things – as representative bodies of local governments towards national and international institutions. The ARIAL programme aims at strengthening this advocacy and lobby role – among other things - by organizing two regional trainings: the first aiming at improving the dialogue between local government associations and national/international institutions, and the second training aiming at improving the dialogue between local government associations and local governments. Â
· What relevant national institutions and development partners are there per country?
· How to analyse the policies and upcoming programming of the national institutions and development partners?
· How to respond to these policies/programming while keeping the interests of the local government in mind?
· What are the development possibilities for local government associations?
· How to increase recognition of local government associations and local governments in their roles as development actors by the national government and development partners?
There are six training sessions organized: one for each region of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States. The basic information is provided below. More extensive information on the specific programmes will be provided in time.
