The recruitment process of the Regional Local Government Associations supported by the ARIAL programme is being finalized. Two RLGAs have been fully staffed, and also the recruitment of the other two RLGAs is going on. The RLGA staff will be instrumental in supporting the Local Government Associations in their regions. |

The ELGAF has selected five Local Government Associations to receive financial and technical support. Currently they are revising and drafting constitutions, preparing national asemblies and working on their visibility.

23/01/2012 /EU Call for Proposals |
During the successful trainings the participants worked on a Concept Note for the EU Non-State Actor/Local Authorities fund. After the trainings there was the opportunity for the regional local government associations to receive expert support in order to produce and submit a full proposal. This expert support is received by EALGA, SARO, a consortium in the Western African region and one consortium in the Pacific region. Soon the proposals will be submitted to the EU, and hopefully they will be accepted. |

Upcoming Activities
| Second round of regional trainings |
In june 2012 the ARIAL programme organizes the second set of regional trainings. These regional trainings will address two topics. The first topic is policy development and priority-setting. A particular focus will be on drafting position papers. The second part addresses communication and lobby strategies. |
| Regional LGA support action plans to be developed |
ARIAL partners will develop region-specific capacity development plans on LGA lobby, communication and strategy. Â |
